Street View and Apple Look Around 2026: where did the map cars go?

Street View and Apple Look Around 2026: where have the mapping cars been?

In 2026, Google’s camera car once again travelled across Hungary, and Apple also surveyed the country for its Look Around service. Below, we’ve summarised what exactly happened and what a business owner should do with this information.

Google Street View: from March 19, in over fifty settlements

Google’s cars set off on March 19 and visited over fifty settlements. Budapest, Debrecen, Kecskemét, Pécs, Veszprém, Siófok, Zalaegerszeg, Nagykanizsa and Keszthely were specifically mentioned in the announcement. The footage typically appears on Maps with a delay of a few months, so the update is still ongoing.

Apple Look Around: between April 7 and May 21, nationwide

Apple specifies the routes of its cars by region in its survey calendar. The 2026 Hungarian wave took place between April 7 and May 21, affecting all regions from Budapest to the Southern Great Plain. This means that in the coming months, the street view of your area will be updated on two major map services.

What the camera car shows – and what it doesn’t

The street footage records the facade, the company sign, the entrance, and the parking. However, it doesn’t show what’s behind the door: the room, the surgery, the showroom, the private dining room. And the guest wants to see exactly that before they set off.

Four steps until the image is updated

  • Check your street front on Maps: can you see the company sign, the entrance, the opening hours?
  • Update your Google Business Profile: data, categories, opening hours, fresh photos.
  • Get an interior tour: the 360° tour will be added to your business profile, where the guest is looking.
  • Embed it on your website and share it: the same work works in two places.

Why it’s worth it now

When the external image is updated, attention to the area increases. This is when the biggest difference between a “street view only” and an “explorable from the inside” place is apparent. The internal tour is created once, doesn’t expire, and remains on Google Maps for years.
