Adding videos to Google Maps

Good news! Local Guides can now add videos to Google Maps, although currently only with an Android mobile phone.
Caption: You can now use your camera to share videos within the Maps service.
Video posts further increase customer trust in your business, so it’s worth taking advantage of the beneficial opportunities they offer as soon as possible. Read our previous article on How to create great videos on Google Maps!
New update: the Local Guides point system has changed! Previously, the maximum points for uploading a photo was 5. Now, you can earn 7 points for uploading a video.
Here’s how to create a video of the business you’re currently at:
- Search for a place on Google Maps and select it.
- Scroll down and click on “Add photo”.
- Click the “Camera” button and hold down the shutter button for 10 seconds.
- You can also upload the first 30 seconds of a video you’ve previously made.
- If you’d like to share feedback and get answers to your questions, click “Join”.
Personal opinion:
Sharing your personal opinion – for example, whether you enjoyed a particular dish, or tips for visitors to the place – is a great way to truly showcase the location.
Check out this great example video below.
Feel free to share details and further information. You can also express your subjective opinion, but remember that videos are subject to the same review guidelines as written reviews. Before recording, it’s also worth reading our new guidelines for audio recordings.
